Mortgages

Mortgage-ready before you make an offer.

We introduce buyers, movers and landlords to a qualified, FCA-regulated mortgage adviser — then keep the lender, the solicitors and the seller moving together until you have the keys.

Who we help

Whatever you're buying, an adviser who fits the purchase.

  • First-time buyers

Know what you can borrow and the deposit you need before you start viewing, so you can move quickly when the right home appears.

  • Moving home

Line up the mortgage on your next purchase while we sell your current home, so both sides of the chain move together.

  • Remortgaging

Coming to the end of a fixed rate? An adviser can review the options well before your current deal ends.

  • Buy-to-let & investors

Finance for a first rental or a growing portfolio, planned around the rent the property will realistically achieve.

How it works

From the first conversation to completion day.

  1. Tell us your plans

Budget, deposit, timescale and the kind of property you want — a short call is enough to begin.

  2. Meet your adviser

We introduce you to a qualified, FCA-regulated adviser, who explains your options and any fees before you proceed.

  3. Agreement in principle

Your adviser secures an agreement in principle, so sellers can see your offer is backed by a lender.

  4. Offer to completion

Once an offer is accepted, the application goes in and we keep solicitors, lender and chain informed until you complete.

Home and mortgage, joined up

One conversation about the property and the finance behind it.

Because we know the property, the chain and the timescales, your adviser gets what they need without you acting as the go-between. The choice stays yours: you never have to use an adviser we introduce.
Read the buyer's guide
  • Prompt access for the lender's valuer when you buy through us
  • Progress on the chain shared with your adviser, with your permission
  • A realistic rent figure from our lettings team for buy-to-let applications
  • Guidance on the other costs of buying, from legal fees to Stamp Duty

Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.

Mortgage advice is given by the qualified, FCA-regulated adviser we introduce you to, who will explain their service and any fees before you commit. Most buy-to-let mortgages are not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

Mortgage FAQs

Advisers, agreements and timings.

Do you arrange mortgages yourselves?

We introduce you to a qualified, FCA-regulated mortgage adviser, who gives the advice and handles the application. We stay involved on the property side — giving the lender's valuer access and keeping your purchase on schedule.

What is a mortgage agreement in principle?

A statement from a lender of how much it may be prepared to lend you, based on your income, outgoings and a credit check. It is not a guaranteed offer, but it shows sellers you are ready to proceed — which is why we suggest getting one before you make an offer.

Can landlords get help with buy-to-let mortgages and remortgages?

Yes. We can introduce landlords to an adviser for buy-to-let purchases and remortgages, and give you a realistic achievable-rent figure from our lettings team to plan the application around.

How long does it take to get a mortgage offer?

It varies by lender and circumstances, but many applications reach a formal offer within two to four weeks once the lender's valuation is done. Having payslips, bank statements and ID ready is the simplest way to avoid delays.

Do I have to use your adviser to buy through M & K?

No. You are free to arrange your mortgage however you like, and every offer is put to the seller in the same way whichever adviser or lender you choose.
